What a Roller Coaster Ride......

Well...where do I start. Sorry in advance, this will be long! Scott and I always look online to see what is out on the market as far as houses go. In February, we found one in Bountiful and looked really good. We went and saw it and really liked it, but didn't think we could afford it. After we looked at things, and Scott got his raise and some other things fell into place, we figured we could afford it and decided to put an offer on the house. It was a short sale, so we put in the offer, after 10 days the sellers accepted our offer, and then it went to the bank to accept. It took the bank another month to approve, but we were VERY shocked on Wednesday night when I was talking to our agent and her son (her partner and our co-agent) called her and told her that the bank accepted our offer. We were completely FLOORED since the week before they told us it could still be another 4 months before they had a decision. Well, we went back to the house on Thursday and noticed that there was quite a bit of water damage in and below one of the windows. We had had some pretty big storms and the window well filled up and the water leaked into the window and damaged the sheet rock. Well, we added that to the list of "repairs" because there were several repairs we were going to have to do over time to finish the basement and the shed out back that we already knew had water damage because they never finished the roof when they built it. Anyway, in the mean time, we only had 28 days til closing on this house, so we had to hurry and put ours up on the market. We got the pictures taken on Thursday and it was listed on Friday. We got a good response from people interested and had 3 appointments set up by the end of the day, one for Friday and 2 for Saturday. Well...Scott and his dad did the inspection Saturday and spent hours at the house and there were SO many issues that came up. The whole entire basement smelled like mold from the water damage, the air conditioner doesn't work and they were lying to us about why it wasn't working saying a piece broke off wen they were moving a carport when in fact they had intentionally removed the whole circuit breaker from the breaker box, the concrete is slanted towards the house, so all the water from rain and snow runs towards the house and under the house and part of the concrete in the garage is sinking and there is a big crack in the brick because of the concrete sinking, the garage door opener doesn't work, the gas was turned off because of non-payment, and so we couldn't even test the furnace, and the list goes on and on. So anyway, after thinking about things, Scott and I did not have a good feeling about things, and so we decided to pull our offer. So, we didn't know what to do since we didn't want this house anymore, but our house was on the market. I was leaning towards just sitting on our house and see what happens with selling it before seriously looking again especially in today's market. Well, Scott and I were both pretty exhausted emotionally after this roller coaster ride on Saturday, so Sunday we were trying to decide what to do when Scott got a phone call. It was from our agent saying we got an offer on our house. It had only been on the market for 36 hours...and was more than we thought we would get. We were in shock. I couldn't believe that it sold that fast! Apparently we are supposed to move....just not to that Bountiful house! The offer was more than we thought we would get, so we couldn't turn it down, and just with the way everything has happened...we accepted the offer....so now, we have a month to find a house and move out since we are closing on our house on May 20th! Oh the joys! Wish us luck!
