Stupid ankle....
I need a new ankle! 5 weeks ago, I rolled my ankle at volleyball, and it is still hurting! It is getting better, but the process is EXTREMELY SLOW! It doesn't hurt too bad (anymore) to just walk or go up and down stairs, but I still can't bend and flex my ankle all the way without pain. I still can't exercise at the level I would like to do. I was able to run 2 consecutive days this week for the first time since it happened (the last 2 weeks or so I have only been able to run one day, but then it hurts too bad for a day or two afterwards that I just have to crank up the incline on the treadmill and walk). But the thing that sucks, is that with not being able to run or exercise consistently for so long (and probably at least another couple weeks), it is going to take a while to build back up to where I was (endurance wise) before I got hurt. It just sucks because not only can't I run, but it limits what I can do in volleyball (I play in a league on Thurs nights). I have to be very careful how I land when I jump or even going after a ball because it will hurt pretty bad if I twist my body just right on even run after a ball and stop too suddenly (and yes, I wear a brace to run and play volleyball in). In my opinion....shouldn't the swelling be gone after 5 weeks? Stupid ankle! I'm ready for a new one!

have you gone to the doc.? maybe you have a hair line fracture or something and that is why it just isn't getting better. that really sucks. sorry
Oh Kim, that really sucks, i'm sorry. Earlier this year, I had really bad shin splints and had to take a month off from running so I did p90x to cross train because I was worried about losing all the momentum I had gained and taking forever to get back to that point. I was SHOCKED at how quickly I bounced back to where I was. Cross train with weights and you'll be just as strong if not stronger once your ankle heals up and you can run every day again. Keep it up girl, it's frustrating because we are getting older and falling apart-lol!
So the nurse in me must recommend you see a doctor and get an x-ray if you already haven't. The swelling really should be gone after 5 weeks. If it is in fact just sprained then you probably need to stay completely off it for a week or two to let the swelling go down all the way before resuming volleyball and running. Good luck. Injuries are so frustrating.
